My Story
From a young age, my love for food blossomed, starting with my homemade French toast that my sister adored. Growing up on a farm in South Dakota, I learned to whip up simple, hearty Midwest meals for my family. Moving to Omaha in the early 1990s, I embraced my culinary passion, landing a job as a prep cook that ignited my journey in the restaurant world. Though I eventually moved on, my enthusiasm for cooking has never wavered.
Omaha's vibrant food scene has truly shaped my culinary journey. As I explored diverse flavors and dishes, I felt inspired to recreate these meals in my own kitchen. This passion for cooking has become a significant part of my life, fueling my desire to learn and experiment with new recipes.
In 2001, I met my husband, Brent, and we discovered our shared passion for food. We loved exploring local restaurants, and I would rush home to try and recreate our favorite dishes. Before long, our home-cooked meals rivaled those of the finest eateries, and our elaborate Fourth of July parties became a beloved tradition, drawing friends and family from miles away to celebrate with us.
In the wake of the 2008 economic downturn, my husband and I faced challenging times as we merged our lives and finances. Despite the strain of a single income, our love for good food never wavered; I drew from my collection of cherished recipes to create delicious meals. Our home became a gathering place, where we often hosted friends and celebrated the joy of cooking. It was during this time that I gave my first cooking lesson, teaching friends essential techniques like knife skills, marinades, and the art of making a perfect crème brûlée.
After years of friends raving about my cooking, I decided to turn my passion into a career.
